Hello! My name is Shannon Schmidt. I have been working with children in some capacity since I was a child myself! Camp counselor, after school program leader, preschool teacher, in-home child care business owner and Montessori teacher are just some of the titles I have known though out my life. At home, I’m blessed with a wonderful husband and two daughters, ages 11 and 18. Expect to hear me lament and rejoice about my eldest heading off to college at some point throughout this year! My passions include my family, teaching, mindfulness, yoga, being in nature and most recently…..birding! Hence, our Point Bonita field trip where I get to hike, lead mindfulness and bird watch with my students is one of my favorite places to be in the whole wide world! I joined the Coloma classroom and the Capitol campus team 5 years ago and mark these as some of the most successful and happy years of my teaching career.
My name is Rosalie Martinez a.k.a Ms. Martinez. I was born in Sacramento and raised mostly in Davis. I attended Sonoma State University for a year, finished my general education classes at Santa Rosa Junior College, and completed the rest of my Liberal Studies BA and Math minor at CSU Sacramento. Currently, I am completing my teaching credential program through CalStateTEACH. Before teaching this year's 9-12 Coloma class, I taught 2nd grade for two years. I love working with kids and making my classroom feel safe and comfortable to learn and grow in. Outside of my teaching life, I tend to spend my time outdoors, hang out with family and friends, travel around the world, and study. I'm constantly looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally. You'll find quickly that I have a loving heart and I always teach with my students in mind first. I look forward to the new experiences CMP brings my way and meeting all my Coloma families!
